Abstract
A study on coral community of Scleractinia in Coral Reef ecosystem at Nirwana Beach Padang have been conducted from April to July 2013. This study are to know the condition of coral reef ecosystems and the composition and community structure of coral (Scleractinia) in the coastal waters of Nirwana. The research method is "Line Intercept Transect" and "Porposive Sampling" in two zones: Tourism zone and Mangrove zone and depth is 2-7 meters. each zones have eight transects, each transect length of 25 meters. Tourism zone conditions on the reef included in the category of very poor with percent coverage (22.52%), which is dominated by massive coral (CM) is Porites lobata and Porites mayeri and "Coral Branching (CB)" is Posites nigrescens. Mangrove zone conditions better than Tourism zone, Percent coverage (39.04%) (Poor), which is dominated by coral "Branching Acropora" Acropora palifera. There are 50 coral spesies belong to 12 familly at Nirwana beach, the six highes relative density of coral spesies is A. palifera (6,56%), Galaxea fasicularis (5,96%), Pocillopora damicornis ( 5,79%), Goniopora pandoraensis (5,27%), Goniastrea pectinata (4,92%), P. lobata ( 4,58%). Diversity index of coral spesies in Nirwana beach is high (3.566). diversity index of each zone is Tourism zone (3.533) and Mangrove zone (3.502). the equitabilitas index is 0,907 (Tourism zone) and 0.909 (Mangrove zone) the composition of coral species at two zone in Nirwana beach was in stable condition, and a similarity index is 95,8%.
