Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever ( DHF ) is an infectious disease caused by the dengue virus with clinical manifestations of high fever, muscle aches or joint pain that is accompanied leukopenia, rash, lymphadenopathy, thrombocytopenia and hemorrhagic diathesis . Nutritional status has a relationship with the incidence of Dengue Shock Syndrome in patients with DHF. This study aims to determine the relationship between nutritional status and dengue shock syndrome event in children suffering the dengue hemorargic fever in department of child health dr. M.Djamil Hospital using cross sectional study. There are 236 sample chosen based total sampling under inclusion criteria. Data taken by patient medical record to see weight, height, and age. Statistical analysis by using chi square. The research found that children who suffer from DHF most have normal nutritional status with a percentage of 60.6 %. Thereby it is with children who suffered dengue shock syndrome dominated by children with a normal nutritional status with a percentage of 60 %. Based on bivariate analysis p-value obtained for 0.419 and 0,74 to the relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of dengue shock syndrome. This shows there is no significant relationship between the two variables. Summary, there is no significant relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of dengue shock syndrome.
