Abstract

Vaginal candidiasis is a form of pathological vaginal discharge that is often complained a woman, in a previous study says 75% of women had experienced something of this infection. There are many factors that cause these infections occur in women, either from internal or external factors. This study aimed to find out the relationship with the gestational age and the incidence of candidiasis vaginalis infection in the microbiology laboratory andalas university medical school in 2012 until 2014. This study is an analytic with cross sectional design. The study population is the entire medical record checks vaginal secretions in the microbiology laboratory FK Unand since January 1, 2012 until December 31, 2014 that as many as 805 cases. The samples were all patients who consult vaginalis Candidiasis vaginal secretions in the microbiology laboratory FK Unand. The number of samples that meet the assessment criteria are as many as 255 patients. Results of the study are grouped in a frequency table and processed statistically using Chi Square test. The results showed that the frequency distribution of age who suffered most Candidiasis vaginalis is healthy reproductive age (20-35 years), non-pregnant patients is more common than the patient is pregnant and the pregnancy status of the data that is found most cases is during the first trimester of pregnancy. Statistically it can be concluded that there is no significant relationship between age and the incidence of vaginal candidiasis infection (p = 0.351) and there was no association between gestational age with the incidence of vaginal candidiasis (p = 0.409).
