Abstract
Background: TB is a chronic infectious disease that is associated with a person's immune system. The role of vitamin D is very important in triggering natural immune response and immune response obtained because vitamin D is one of the mediators that inhibit the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in macrophages. The research objective was to determine the relationship between vitamin D levels with clinical symptoms, radiology and sputum smear positivity rate in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. Methods: Research with cross sectional study design since January 2015 until the subjects reached the number of patients who had pulmonary tuberculosis diagnosis of new cases coming to the clinic BP4 Lubuk Alung before using anti-tuberculosis drug treatment. Levels of 25 (OH) D serum examined by the method of chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA). Result : Most of pulmonary tuberculosis patients were male, mean age 18.45 ± 3.45, the mean body mass index 18.45 ± 3.45. Sufisiensi found vitamin D levels, vitamin D insufficiency and defisensi in this study respectively 17.4%, 44.2% and 36.55 most clinical symptoms are cough, followed by weight loss (82.35%) and decreased appetite meal (80.39%). radiological features extensive lesions and lesions minimal, respectively 86.27% and 13.72%, p value = 1.00. Sputum smear examination results + 3 are the largest (54.90), +2 (17.64), +1 (19.60) and negative 0.07, p value = 0.03 Keywords: Tuberculosis, vitamin D, clinical symptoms, extent of the lesion, sputum smear positivity.
