Abstract
The purpose of this research is to analyze the relationship between working capital management and profitability, and introduces empirical evidence about working capital management and its effect to the profitability of Basic Industry and Chemical Companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange period 2010-2014. The independent variables in this research are accounts receivable days (ARD), inventory days (ID), accounts payable days (APD), and net trade cycle (NTC). As for dependent variable is return on assets (ROA). As control variable are sales growth (SG) and debt ratio (DR). Analysis technique that is used are correlation analysis and regression analysis, and hypothesis analysis technique that is used is goodness of fit test by using T-test, F-test for 5% level of significant, and coefficient of determination (R2). The result showed that debt ratio (DR) has significant but negatively relationship towards profitability and accounts receivable days (ARD), inventory days (ID), accounts payable days (APD) has positive relationship but not significant by using return on assets (ROA) as the dependent variable in Basic Industry and Chemical companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) with 5% level of significant. Meanwhile, as for the net trade cycle (NTC) have negative relationship but not significant towards return on assets (ROA) by using return on assets (ROA) as the dependent variables in basic industry and chemical companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) with 5% level of significant.
