Abstract
For Indonesian people, soy sauce become an essential product in every home. Because, in almost every Indonesian dish or food, soy sauce is always added to enhance the taste. PT. Korma Jaya is a company that takes advantage of this phenomenon as a business field. This company, which is domiciled in the South Jakarta area, processes black soybeans into soy sauce with variations of sweet, medium, satay, flavored and roasted soy sauce. PT. Korma Jaya supplies soybean raw materials annually up to four times from suppliers located in Solo. The number of orders is only based on the company's historical data and product availability. The lack of policy in managing orders for raw materials has resulted in losses that have been experienced repeatedly by companies, there are remaining stock of soybean raw materials after three months in storage so that the soybeans are expired. A loss that are considered small, of course, will become large if it occurs repeatedly. Based on these problems, this study aims to minimize or even eliminate expired raw materials in each period with a record of the same production rate. Efforts were made by controlling raw materials more optimally and observing the decline in soybean quality over a period of 20 weeks. The initial step of the research is the elaboration of the calculation of soybean total inventory costs which consist of purchase cost, ordering cost, holding cost, expired cost, and shortage costs. Calculation of factual inventory costs is carried out based on data in 2019 and 2020. Then, a differential calculation of the total inventory cost is carried out for the interval period because of course to get the optimum interval period. This raw material control principle utilizes the EOQ principle so that when the optimum interval is obtained, the optimum order quantity is also obtained. After that, the calculation of the total inventory cost with the two optimum variables is carried out again so that the results can be compared with the factual conditions. In 2019, PT Korma Jaya spent a total soybean inventory cost of IDR 437,776,000 with a loss of profit of IDR 97,060,761.60, while in 2020 PT Korma Jaya paid IDR 405,120,000 with a loss of profit of IDR 62,110,615.20. Based on the differential calculation of total inventory costs, the optimum interval for the two years is 45 days, in other words, the company needs to order nine times a year. The optimum order quantity is 3,881 kg of soybeans in 2019 data and 3,641 kg of soybeans in 2020 data. This reduces the inventory costs that companies have to pay by IDR 24,974,140.00 without any loss of profit on expired soybeans.
