Abstract
MPEG Surround that developed by Moving Picture Expert Group is one of the International Organization for Standarization (ISO) standard for multichannel audio coding. In line with the needs of high-quality audio in tellecommunication world today, it has also developed an object-based audio transmission. With this object-based audio transmission, audio can be controlled based on the desired objects in the audio. This function is widely used in music studios, karaoke, broadcasting sports events and others. In this study, MPEG Surround encoder decoder is used to perform object-based audio transmission by combining two different audio objects into a downmix signal, then reconstruct the audio that have been combined. Audio quality results measured by the Objective Different Grade (ODG) scale parameter nd saw an increase of Signal to Interference Ratio (SIR). The use of MPEG Surround for the object based audio transmission in this study, obtaining the highest scale in ODG parameter, with the value -0,61673 at 256 Kbps bit rate. As well as SIR that always increasing, indicating the results of thr better audio quality, with the value 21,82094 dB at 256 Kbps bit rate. Keywords : Object-Based Audio, MPEG Surround
