Abstract

Lima Puluh Kota Regency is known as one of the abundant agricultural producing areas. Gambir plant is one of the leading agricultural commodities in Lima Puluh Kota Regency. One of the centers for gambir production in Lima Puluh Kota Regency is Nagari Maek in Bukik Barisan District. The purpose of this study was to analyze the application of green growth of gambier commodity to gambir production in Bukik Barisan District, Lima Puluh Kota, West Sumatra Province and analyze the level of welfare of gambir farmers in Bukik Barisan District, Lima Puluh Kota, West Sumatra Province. The result of the research is that from the analysis of the two production processes of gambir which is seen from the planting process and the postharvest gambir production process using the measurement of seven environmentally friendly indicators, there is one indicator that is still not environmentally friendly. Meanwhile, the measure of the welfare level of gambier farmers in Bukik Barisan District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra is based on objective and subjective. Based on the objective measured by income. The income of farmers when viewed from gambir is still not sufficient/not prosperous, but if it is added with additional income for farmers in Bukik Barisan District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency, it can be said to be prosperous, even though they rely on hard work and sweat to get satisfactory results. . There are 10 subjective indicators used to measure the welfare of gambier farmers, namely indicators of Health, Education and Skills, Employment, Income, Environment, Security, Social Relations, Family Harmony, Availability of Free Time, Home and Assets. Indicators that get a high level of satisfaction is an indicator of the environment and security, family harmony. The indicators that get the lowest scores are the education and skills indicators, employment and income indicators. The government must establish or create a farmer group aimed at increasing the yield of this gambier plant. The government should also create a buffer body so that gambir farmers are not harmed. The buffer agency to maintain the stability of the price of gambir at the farmer level is very fluctuating, because so far the gambir farmers have been greatly disadvantaged due to the uncertain price of gambir.
