Abstract
ABSTRAK PENINGKATAN KAPASITAS PRODUKSI UREA LEPAS LAMBAT DENGAN PENYALUT CAMPURAN POLISTIREN – PATI DAN KARAKTERISASINYA Oleh: ANGGITA FRESILIA NIM: 1811012019 (Program Studi Sarjana Farmasi) Perkembangan teknologi farmasi sangat pesat terutama produk sediaan lepas lambat yang tidak hanya diterapkan pada obat namun juga bisa diterapkan pada pupuk. Pupuk lepas lambat berguna dalam meningkatkan efisiensi pemanfaatan nutrisi oleh tanaman serta mengurangi efek samping akibat penggunaan pupuk konvensional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas produksi urea lepas lambat dari formula penyalut campur polistiren pati (2:1) yang merupakan formula terbaik pada penelitian sebelumnya menjadi 10, 20, 40, dan 80 kali. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengukuran efesiensi penyalutan, distribusi ukuran granul, pengujian morfologi granul dan pengukuran tebal penyalut dengan Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), spektroskopi Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), dan uji pelepasan pada media air suling, tanah dan lumpur. Hasil pengukuran efesiensi penyalutan pada formula 1, 2, 3, dan 4 yaitu 82, 80,9, 88,7, dan 89,6 %. Urea yang telah disalut memiliki ukuran granul dengan diameter 1,5 hingga 3,6 mm. Pada pengamatan morfologi permukaan lapisan penyalut terlihat halus, kompak, dan seragam. Hasil pengukuran tebal penyalut pada formulasi 1, 2, 3, dan 4 yaitu 49,22, 20,34, 30,33, dan 39,05 µm. Pada pengamatan dengan FTIR urea lepas lambat menunjukkan spektrum yang sama degan urea tanpa penyalut. Pada pengujian DSC dengan urea yang telah disalut menunjukkan titik leleh 136,530C dan untuk titik leleh polimer polistiren pati tidak menunjukkan titik leleh. Pengujian pelepasan pada media air suling, tanah dan lumpur pada penelitian ini masih menunjukkan pelepasan urea yang lambat jika dibandingkan urea konvensonal. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa peningkatan kapasitas urea lepas lambat dengan penyalut campur polistiren pati tidak mempengaruhi karakteristik dan pelepasan urea dibandingkan penelitian sebelumnya. Kata kunci: urea lepas lambat, peningkatan kapasitas, polistiren, pati ABSTRACT SCALE-UP THE PRODUCTION CAPACITY OF SLOWRELEASE UREA WITH POLYSTYRENE – STARCH MIXED COATING AND ITS CHARACTERIZATION By: ANGGITA FRESILIA Student ID Number: 1811012019 (Bachelor of Pharmacy) The development of pharmaceutical technology is very rapid, especially in slow-release dosage forms which are not only applied to drugs but can also be applied to fertilizers. Slow-release fertilizers are useful in increasing the efficiency of nutrient utilization by plants and reducing side effects due to the use of conventional fertilizers. This study aims to increase the production capacity of slow-release urea from the mixed of starch polystyrene coating formula (2:1) which was the best formula in previous study to 10, 20, 40, and 80 times. In this study, measurements of coating efficiency, granule size distribution, granule morphology, and coating thickness measurements were carried out using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), and release tests on distilled water, soil, and mud media. The results of the measurement of coating efficiency on formulas 1, 2, 3, and 4 were 82, 80.9, 88.7, and 89.6%. The coated urea has a granule size in the diameter range of 1.5 to 3.6 mm. On the observation of the surface morphology of the coating looks smooth, compact, and uniform. Results of coating thickness measurements on formulations 1, 2, 3, and 4 were 49.22, 20.34, 30.33, and 39.05 μm. The FTIR result of slow-release urea showed the same spectrum as uncoated urea. The DSC test of coated urea showed a melting point of 136.53°C and the melting point of starch polystyrene polymer did not show a melting point. The release test on distilled water, soil and mud media in this study still showed a slow release of urea when compared to conventional urea. It can be concluded that the increase in the capacity of slow-release urea with starch-polystyrene mixed coating did not affect the characteristics and release of urea compared to previous studies.
