Abstract

According to WHO, more than 50% of the total use of drugs is irrational which seriously affects public health around the world. Dyspepsia is a digestive disorder that is often found in various health facilities in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the sociodemographic characteristics of dyspeptic patients, patterns of drug use, accuracy of drug use, and to determine the relationship between gender, age, drug accuracy, and dosage accuracy with the condition of outpatient dyspepsia patients who return to the Sumpur Kudus Public Health Center. This study is a descriptive analytic study with purposive sampling and data collection was carried out retrospectively from the medical records of outpatients diagnosed with dyspepsia in the 2020 period. Of the 106 patient medical records according to inclusion, dyspepsia was more commonly found in female patients, with a percentage of 66% . The most common age range found was 56-65 years with a percentage of 27.4%. The therapy used was antacid tablets (51.9%), antacid syrup (33.8%), omeprazole capsules (12.8%) and a combination of antacid tablets and omeprazole capsules (1.5%). Evaluation of drug therapy was carried out, from 133 therapies received by patients, the results obtained were 100% correct indication, 100% correct patient, 83.5% correct drug, and 88.7% correct dose. The results of statistical analysis showed that there was a significant relationship (p<0.05) between the accuracy of the drug and the condition of dyspeptic patients who came back for treatment. There was no significant relationship (p>0.05) between gender, age, and dosage accuracy with the condition of dyspeptic patients who came back for treatment. It can be concluded that the use of dyspepsia drugs at the Sumpur Kudus Health Center for the 2020 period still has inaccuracies in the use of drugs.
