Abstract

Evaluation of land suitability aims to determine the characteristics and land quality so that it can be carried out on the development of plant commodities that are suitable for the land. This research was conducted in Dusun Tangah Village, Sangir Batang Hari Sub-district of South Solok District, which aims to (1) evaluate the land suitability in Dusun Tangah, Sangir Batang Hari Sub-district of South Solok District for oil palm plantations, (2) create a land suitability map for oil palm plantations in that area. Soil sampling was by purposive random sampling and to determine the land suitability class was by the matching method (matching the characteristics of the land with the growing requirements for oil palmThe results of land suitability evaluation in Dusun Tangah, Sangir Batang Hari Sub-district of South Solok District were in Land Unit (SL) I was in the S2 land suitability class (quite suitable) with S2wa,rc,fh sub-class and the limiting factors were availability of water (rainfall), root media (soil depth), flood hazard (inundation). SL 2 was in the S2 land suitability class (quite suitable) with S2wa,rc,eh sub- class and the limiting factors were availability of water (rainfall), root media (soil depth), and erosion hazard. SL 3 was in the S2 land suitability class (quite suitable) with S2wa,rc,eh,fh sub-class and the limiting factors were availability of water (rainfall), root media (soil depth), erosion hazard and flood hazard (inundation).
