Abstract

The Department of Trade, Cooperatives, and SMEs in Solok City wants to innovate by producing derivative products from citronella oil. It can increase the selling price of citronella oil from the production of citronella farmers in Solok City. Currently, several SMEs in the city of Solok has made innovative products derived from citronella oil. However, marketing activities for their products are limited because they do not have a distribution permit from BPOM. The company must have an audit document of production facilities to obtain a distribution permit. The management of distribution permits from BPOM for Essential SMEs in Solok City is still constrained because these SMEs do not yet have a production house to produce their products. This prompted the Department of Trade, Cooperatives, and SMEs in Solok City to help build a production house that facilitates all Atsiri SMEs in Solok City through the Laing Sepakat Cooperative. The production house will be built beside the Laing Sepakat Cooperative of 5 x 10 m2. The Department of Trade, Cooperatives, and SMEs in Solok City together with the Laing Sepakat Cooperative require a design for the construction of a production house with a limited land area. Planning the layout and factory facilities is the first step to plan the construction of a new production house. The layout design of the production house must be able to meet the GMP aspects to obtain a distribution permit from BPOM. The application of GMP rules uses qualitative assessment in the design of work stations, departments, and the preparation of production house layouts. So the method to design a production house is the ARC (Activity Relationship Chart) method. In the ARC design, the close relationship between departments is assessed based on the flow of the production process and aspects of GMP. This study resulted in a production house layout and facility design with a production target of beauty soap 1903 pcs/day, dish soap 453 bottles/day, floor cleaner 94 bottles/day, hand gel 2107 bottles/day, and air freshener 379 bottles/day. GMP rules are applied in the design of workstations and rooms. The production house has nine rooms consisting of the production room, appliance washing room, changing room, secondary packaging room, warehouse, storage, toilet, weighing room, and laboratory. The size of the production house area is 50 m2 and has fulfilled the land area available for the construction of the production house.
