Abstract

Based on Presidential Instruction No. 10 of 2005 concerning energy saving, it is necessary to carry out energy management so that the use of energy, especially electrical energy, becomes more efficient. This is in contrast to the condition of energy consumption at Andalas University Hospital, where the hospital complains of an increase in electricity bills every month. One of the possible causes for the swelling of electricity bills is the large consumption of air conditioning power. Therefore, an energy audit research was conducted on the air conditioning system at Andalas University Hospital. The purpose of this research is to obtain data on energy use and information on opportunities for saving electrical energy in the air conditioning system at Andalas University Hospital. This electrical energy saving is done by calculating the value of the energy consumption intensity (IKE) of the Andalas University Hospital and the IKE of the air conditioning system. Based on the calculation results, the IKE value of Andalas University Hospital is 108.68 kWh/m2/year and the IKE value of the air conditioning system is 69.03 kWh/m2/year. The IKE value obtained is classified as efficient, but to maximize electrical energy savings, the air conditioner operating hours are reduced by 2 hours each working day as well as periodic maintenance and repairs. So that the obtained electrical energy savings of 134,610.96 kWh/year.
